Short Films

Fat Fish

In September 2010, Dawghaus Studios signed up for the DIGI60 30-day film festival. Entrants were given 30 days to produce a short film, no longer than eight minutes, that is "based on a short story written in elementary school by someone who is now at least 18 years old." We chose to adapt a very simple story and use the festival as an opportunity to experiment with an unusual approach, namely filming almost the whole film from the perspective of a fish in an aquarium, which presented unique challenges for the production. The film screened at the Shenkman Centre on November 16.

My first short film, co-produced with Ryan Davies and the help of many talented people, screened at the 2010 72-hour boxCART film festival on February 10th. Special thanks to Ottawa's Grand Motel Band for providing us with all the music used in the film. Here it is, along with the 'making of':
